School & Sports Sundance Elementary Library Winter Tidbits BY KATHY BJORNESTAD Sundance Elementary School Librarian Weee been weathering the cold at the elementary library by packing kids in before school and during lunch. During these extra visits, they can study several collections sixth graders have on display, danuary's football card collection features Cait- lynn Huven and her brother, Cash. Here's what she has to say: "What do we collect? Football cards] How long have we had them? Only since De- cember, 2013. My brother and I collect football cards because they have some of our favorite quarterbacks on them. Also, we love footballl We wished for a few cards for Christmas, and we got them. We aren't sure how many we have, but there are well over 40 of them. My favorite team is the Green Janessa Willen Bay Packers, and my brother's favorite team is the San Diego Chargers." Our February collection is a stuffed animal cat collection. Kayla Fowler LOVES cats. She says, "I collect stuffed cats. Ie had my collection about four years. I started collecting cats about four years ago when I got Lyla. She's a small black panther I got in Califon'da. I have a total of 52 cats, and my most favor- ite is Tigrina. She is a Webkins Signature Endangered Spe- cies Edition clouded leopard. I have always had a love for cats, but in the last few years it has been even stronger. With my cats it's always them first-- Rigan Mclnerney - Book unless I have homework. Ever Tweet winner. since my first cat, Lyla, my life has never been the same, and I hope to get plenty more." In January and February the library also picked two winners in a drawing of"Book Tweets." Rigan Mclnemey won a free book for her Tweet about Wild Life, which she says "really gets you hookedI" and Janessa Wilen won a free book for her Tweet about Grounded, which she claims is "sad and hilarious at the same time." Library classes also participated in prize drawings thanks to the many books received through Books Are Fun and the Scholastic Book Fair. Check your school calendars for the first week of March.
