Spilling Pop On Carpet
Is No Longer A Disaster
Laramie --- Not too long ago it
was possible for a 10-cent bottle
of pop ,to ruin a $500 carpet.
,People in record numbers are
still spill~ng soft drinks on car-
pets and upholstered furniture.
The resuRs, :however, are not as
disastrous .as they used .to .be.
",If you have a fe~v supplies on
hand and know ~,hat to do with
'them, Fou can save many a bead-
ache and ex~pense" said Miss Hel-
en Miller, University of Wyoming
~_,xtension home management
specialist.
'I~e ~irst thin, g ¢o do when
somebody trpsvts pop on the ear-
pet is 'to ,blot the ~iquid immed-
iately with a sponge, absorbent
cloth, or paper towel.
"Work from the outer edge to-
,yard the cen~er of the stained
m'ea, and don'~t rub the ~pot any
more than necessary,' Miss ,Miller
said.
Then, mix one teaspoon of
~ight-duty deter.gen~ and one .tea.
spoon of white vinegar with a
quart at warm ~v~ter and apply
'the solution ~co the spot. Blot up
the liquid and reapply the solu-
¢ion. Do 'this several ~mes until
'the spot is gone.
"Finally, dry ,the tax, pet and
/brush up ,the pile .gently," Miss
Miller concluded.
