Tourney Mill
In the early 1880's Beulah had
a stone ,grinder mill which was
run by Sherwood. This mill
proved to be to small and to slow
for all the people that were using
it, so in 1890 a new mill was built.
John Fox was the owner, but the
mill which used the flowing wat-
ers of Sand Creek for its power,
was built and operated by H.H.
Reinecke. Reinecke had been a
ship builder and a master mill
wright from Germany and was a
good choice for the job. The land
for the mill was purchased from
Alex Moorcroft in April of 1890.
Reinecke later dropped out of the
mill picture and in 1897 Fox
deeded the mill and water rights
to Frank Andrews. Andrews was
a skilled miller from Michigan
and he soon developed a reputa-
tion for turning out quality flour.
His Silver Star white flour brou-
ght in farmers and ranchers from
100 miles or more at harvest time
at full capacity the mill could
turnout 100 sold to Tourney Mill
Co. Flour was still ground from
time to time through World War
11 but it's importance to the
community gradually dwindled.
